Global Live Med

A Day for Music & Dialogue

11.00-23.00

5 Mpenizelou Paleologou str., Athens

Global Live Med partners with Flux Laboratory Athens to launch its first music and advocacy event in favor of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This experimental initiative will act as a catalyst for dialogue in the Mediterranean and unite all corners of the region to participate in panel discussions and musical performances.

Global Live Med is a non-profit event, carefully structured to encourage creative thinking, cultural exchange, and constructive dialogue. Over the course of one full day, the event will host three moderated discussions around the themes of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13, 16 and 17 – Respectively, Climate Action, Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions, and Partnerships for The Goals.

These three conversations will tackle different angles through panelists from a wide variety of spheres like Leader of Bioenergy, Circular Economy & Sustainability Research Group Prof. Anastasia Zabaniotou from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Ms. Rita Iraqi Husseini, former OCP Group representative for Sustainable Development and current Project Leader for the European Parliament, and General Director of the Athens Epidaurus Festival Dr. Ioannis Kaplanis.

Moreover, and as an attempt to engage the audience in a fully immersive experience, the afternoon hours will offer a series of musical performances by regional artists; notably Israeli kamancheh player Mark Eliyahu, Greek lyre virtuoso Sokratis Sinopoulos, the extemporaneous compositions of Majnoon & Khaikhan from Turkey, eclectic sounds of DJ Y.LOH, and Spanish guitarist Pau Figueres.

The event will take place in the heart of the historical neighborhood of Plaka.

Global Live Med is supported by the Embassy of Israel in Greece, the Embassy of Switzerland in Greece, the Fluxum Foundation in Geneva, and the World Human Forum
