AHMAD JOUDEH, Dancer & Choreographer - First time in Switzerland - Fête de la musique 2017

FLUX Laboratory and FLUXUM Foundation present Syrian dancer Ahmad Joudeh within the frame of “La Fête de la Musique de Genève – Scène Danse”.

Born in Damascus, this young dancer uses dance as a therapy to fight against the Islamic state and war. He dances everywhere: on roofs, on the street, in the middle of ruins. Nothing will stop this passionate boy, not even the intimidations or threats received from terrorist organization Daesch. For him, dancing means resisting. He actually tattooed on his neck: “Dance or die”.

Meeting Dutch journalist Roozbeh Kaboly changed Ahmad’s life, bringing him to collaborate with many international dancing companies, such as the Dutch National Ballet or the Dutch Nation Touring Opera.

One in a million is one of his latest works, a performance created with choreographer Robin Van Zutphen on the music by Max Ritcher « When she came back ».

The documentary « Dance or die » by Roozbeh Kaboly shows the daily life of the dancer in Syria. He returns to visit some of the cities where he used to live during his childhood, including Palmyra.

round table will be the opportunity for Ahmad to share his passion for dance and his professional and personal experience.

« There is a million of artists in syria that no one knows. This dance is dedicated to every syrian artist dreaming to be free »
