Daniel Schweizer - ‘FACES of Human Rights Defenders and the Extractive Industry'
OPENING Wednesday March 5,
In the frames of the FIFDH Geneva:
Daniel Schweizer, Swiss film director and documentary maker, presents an exceptional series of photographs capturing portraits of defenders of Human Rights. This exhibition, that we have shown in Zurich in December 2013, takes place in the frame of the Filmfestival and international Forum on Human Rights (FIFDH).
"FACES of Human Rights Defenders and the Extractive Industry shows portraits of individuals engaged in the defense of Human Rights in relation to the extractive industries, a sector that often operates in already fragilized contexts. The protection of those who defend Human Rights is a priority for Swiss foreign policy. In order to make this priority real, Switzerland gives directions to all its foreign representations on the protection of Human Rights Defenders, presented in this exhibition."
During the opening evening, at 8pm, we will project the film Yanomami en sursis (8 min) and the short-film Chez les Xikrin du Cateté, 50 ans après (10 min). A conference-debate on the challenges of Amazonia today will follow this screening, lead by Daniel Schweizer, René Fuerst and Aurélien Fontanet.
Flux Laboratory is proud to host this exhibition in Geneva: come discover magnificent individuals!
