DADA 2016 Geneve - Nikos Vavdinoudis - Bell Bearers
Flux Laboratory Zurich: 28 January - 26 February 2016
Flux Laboratory Geneva: 7 April – 4 May 2016
In early January, in the small villages of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, in northern Greece, the earth begins to quake to the sound of bells and other strange rituals. The inhabitants of these villages, adorned in masks and animal skins with bells strapped to them, practice these ancestral rites each year to chase away evil spirits and welcome the beginning of a good and fertile year.
Nikos Vavdinoudis is a photographer from Thessaloniki. His work focuses on portraits and architectural and culinary photography. He has worked with Dimitris Athyridis and, since 1999, he has managed the vd studio with his partner Christos Dimitriou.
