DADA 2016 Geneve - Aurélie Mathigot - Pas une minute sans DADA
Flux Laboratory Zurich: 5-26 February 2016
Flux Laboratory Geneva: 14 April – 4 May 2016
The project consists of a series of characters made of cloth, all stuck together to make up a huge crowd. The fabrics are printed with a digital image that includes patterns, designs, and colors beloved by the artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp.
Aurélie Mathigot’s artistic path travels through the photographic medium and textiles, to explore the idea of rethinking scale, and relationships to the known.
By creating a new form of image that is fragmented and outsized, she is envisioning a work on changes in perception, on the desire to enhance optical illusion. Her artistic approach deals with the notions of overabundance, being overwhelmed, of time slipping away from us. Mathigot uses artisanal techniques requiring precise skills, such as embroidery, crochet, basketwork, ceramics, and woodcarving.
